I'm 67 today. Phew! Ups, downs, sideways, and zig-zags. Oh my.

 




My looks have changed. I have laugh lines, not wrinkles. I walk slowly because I am finally in a place where I don't have to rush from one place to the next. I can enjoy what I'm engaged in and be fully present rather than planning my answers to questions while someone else is speaking or thinking about my next appointment while my current engagement is still in in progress. Everything doesn't have to go my way (although let's be honest--aren't you happier when it does? Just kidding. Ok, not really). 

And I wear what I want to because my style doesn't define me; it's a mere expression of myself but not the whole kit and kaboodle. 


I've changed internally as I've gotten older. I take it easy. I know when to stop and take care of myself. I laugh much more and with my belly and soul. But this comes from confidence and acceptance that comes with maturity. 


I hope for all of you who are celebrating a birthday that you all love every delicious bite of your life, or at least learn to. 

Be well, be fly, and most importantly, be you, Boo!

Today we commissioned the Kafue Bulk Water Supply Project in Kafue District which aims at improving the provision of clean water for Lusaka residents.

  While this water is important for our people in Lusaka urban, we feel the Kafue residents who are host to this water reservoir and installation should equally benefit by having clean water in their households.  We urged the water utility companies across the country to find more innovative ways of efficiently and effectively using this water. For example, once water has been used in our households, we should find ways to harness it again for other uses such as agriculture purposes.   We expressed our appreciation to President Xi Jinping and the People’s Republic of China for this US$150 million (K2.4 billion) water plant which symbolises their sincerity in pursuit of the greater good and our shared interest to improving the quality and standard of life for all our people. President Hakainde Hichilema instructs Minister of Finance, Dr Musokotwane.

 I have instructed the Minister of Finance, Dr Musokotwane to request parliament to approve a supplementary budget of about K22 billion arising from financial prudence. This makes 2022 budget circa K195bn as opposed to K123bn in the previous year.  This extra generated revenue will be used to increase funding towards fertiliser support programme, dismantle arrears for suppliers and contractors, payment of retirees and more road construction. The resources have been allocated to benefit our citizens and generate more revenue as opposed to lavish lifestyles in private jets, VXs, and outright looting.  We said Zambia had resources, what was missing was prudent management of resources.
