WHY ACTORS HAVE TO KEEP TRAINING By MAXWELL MWAPE TUNWA

Image
#Director Maxwell Mwape Tunwa Actors usually fall into one of two #brackets: those who think they don’t need any more #training and those who are addicted to attending every masterclass in town. We’re looking for a happy #medium. I get it. Perhaps you’ve been to drama school, or you’ve been in the #industry for years and you simply can’t take another #acting class! But unfortunately you can’t stop. Acting is a #craft and it requires work otherwise those skills you’ve worked so hard on, will wither away. I’ve been #fortunate enough to sit down with some of the most #successful actors, directors, casting directors and writers in the industry, and the one thing they all come back to is working on your craft. Most acknowledge the #role of luck, but they also stress the importance of being ready to make the most of #opportunities when they do arise. If you haven’t been consistently working on your acting skills when a big #audition comes your way, how will you make the most of it? You...

President Hakainde Hichilema shares story of business woman - Cecilia Kumoyo.

Image
Cecilia Kumoyo's business was almost closed in 2021. She, like many others is a cross border trader. She imports her merchandise from China via Tanzania. The high exchange rate and labourious clearing processes made her goods prohibitively expensive. She started losing customers. We have resolved one side of the equation, the low exchange rate and she is happy with this as her business is beginning to recover. However, when we were in Tanzania yesterday we also discussed the issue of expedited clearing of goods on both sides of our borders for the sake of people like Cecilia. This too will be resolved. Zambia is in business. Bally

President Hakainde Hichilema met her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania having talks which focused on deepening historical ties in many sectors of the two countries.

Fellow citizens. This afternoon we held bilateral talks with our sister, Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania which focused on deepening historical ties in many sectors of the two countries. The key areas our discussion centered on, included rehabilitating the TAZARA railway line with the view of enhancing trade and business opportunities between the two countries. We also desire to revamp and redesign the TAZAMA oil pipeline with a view to import finished products and reduce the cost of fuel in our country. We have also agreed to critically look at the existing trade barriers and find a way of harmonising these for the benefit of our citizens in both countries. Among the issues to be addressed include the delays in cargo clearance at the ports and borders. We also have a lot to learn in the way the Tanzanian authorities have organised small scale miners from licensing, extraction, and finding markets for the minerals as we embark on empowerin...

COLONIAL AFRICA: Knowledge Is Power BERLIN CONFERENCE 1884..

Image
The Berlin Conference of 1884–1885, also known as the Congo Conference or West Africa Conference, regulated European colonisation and trade in Africa during the New Imperialism period and coincided with Germany's sudden emergence as an imperial power. AGENDA [ 1] •Portugal–Britain: The Portuguese government presented a project, known as the "Pink Map", or the "Rose-Coloured Map", in which the colonies of Angola and Mozambique were united by co-option of the intervening territory (the land later became Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi). All of the countries attending the conference, except for Britain, endorsed Portugal's ambitions, and just over five years later, in 1890, the British government issued an ultimatum that demanded for the Portuguese withdraw from the disputed area.
